dreaded invalid node structure. It is repairing now. This is after one day's very light use. After some research and talking to some other mac folks, I am thinking it might be some bad RAM. |

Could not get the drive to mount in target disk mode. Soooooo... A clean install. I did a backup about a year ago, so I did not lose too much. |

Posting and checking email from the gallery. It's cold and dark in here and at least one drunk person has stopped to make a face at me thru the front window. I am listening to Frankie Goes to Hollywood on my iPod. After work, I tore my house apart looking for my firewire cable. I knew I had one. Finally found it. The apartment looks like a bomb went off. I think tomorrow I am taking my computer to a friends to see if we can maybe boot the computer in firewire target disk mode. I'm thinking the harddrive is readable enough to pull at least the photos off and save them to dvd, and some of the music too. That would be nice. Then I can do a clean install of OSX. Just waiting to hear confirmation from him, and to find out if his Mac is on OSX 10.4 or higher. Apparently anything less than 10.4 can't read an Intel Mac's disk in target disk mode. So, I am out of here for the night. Need to clean up the house, and find something to do, since I don't have the internet to keep me entertained. Sigh... the fun never stops. |

Posted using TxtLJ If anyone has any exciting suggestions re: the iMac, feel free to send me a text via my user info. At least that used to work. |

Well... I let Disk Warrior run last night, and it said it repaired bunches of stuff. But it wouldn't save the new directory. Upon restart, it wouldn't boot past the gray screen. When I booted using the OSX DVD, I ran Disk Utility again, and got the same error message as before. Also, the harddrive is no longer a listed as a choice on the install screen. I started Disk Warrior again this morning, just to see if it would work, and let it run after I left for work. Now that I am here and able to access the internet, I see that I have version 3, and it's not compatible with 10.5. I don't know if running it with version 3 is creating more problems than it's solving. I can get an upgrade to version 4 for 49.95, but that's not really an option at the moment. Oh, well, it's just stuff. |
